Southwestern University Receives Grant

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

Southwestern University has received a grand from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to help Dillard University, in Louisiana, recreate course materials lost after Hurricane Katrina came to town. The funding will also be used by Southwestern (in Texas) to help the Dillard University staff develop and create online classes for the students that have been displaced all across the country. The grant from the A.W. Mellon Foundation is for $160,000 and will go a long way to help the historically black university get back on track, hoping to re-open its doors in January 2006.
