Nanotechnology to Come to University of Texas

The University of Texas at Austin will be home to a new Nanotechnology center in the years ahead. A great campus just got a whole lot better.

Although the institute would be based at UT-Austin, it would be a creature of UT-Dallas and UT-Arlington as well, with some of its principal researchers based at those campuses, according to system records. Rice, Texas Tech and Texas A&M universities also will be invited to participate. Out-of-state participants could eventually include the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Northwestern University, Pennsylvania State University and other schools.

Federal Government Seeks $8.7 Million from Texas Schools

The Houston Chronicle is reporting today that the Federal Government is seeking at least $8.7 million in overpaid Medicaid funds for student health care. A new audit has brought the “miscalculation” was found in December by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. Most of the claims are filed with improper paperwork or used unlicensed health care providers. Of the 2,175 Medicaid claims sampled by the inspector general, 991 had errors. Midland College Expands

Midland College is finalizing steps to add a news classrom building between the Allison Fine Arts Center and Technical Center. Plans to start construction are planned for this coming summer. The 79,000 sqft building at Midland is not coming cheap either. The estimated cost, according to mywesttexas.com, is approximately $12 million. Classes in the new facility are scheduled to start in 2008.

Texas College Guide Opens Its Doors

We are proud and happy to announce that we have finally made our way around to launching a site here called Texas College Guide. The idea behind TCG is to profile Texas colleges and universities as well as vocational and trade schools to help students in Texas and elsewhere learn more about what thier schools have to order. Other areas that will will cover include test preparation, for the SAT and ACT tests, admissions essay advice and some general tips and timelines that will help to ease the process of selection and application.
